Quick News 📰

$20k Raised for Cystic Fibrosis 💰

Wow, 280 participants in the annual Brooms to Bowlo Charity Walk raised over $20,000 for Cystic Fibrosis research and support earlier this month. Opting to walk the 23 kilometres between Brooms Head and Yamba Bowling Club or enjoying activities at Yamba Bowlo in support of this great initiaitive coordinated by Raine & Horne Maclean, Yamba and Iluka.

Easing Wet 🌧️

With the majority of our heavy rain in the valley easing and cleanups underway, some roads are worse for wear with many localised closures from flash flooding. Alerts are easing now to monitor conditions around Glenreagh, Coutts Crossing, Wooli and Yamba. A good reminder to keep up to date on HazardWatch or the CVC Disaster Dashboard.

Truck Crash on Highway

A major emergency operation on Tuesday took seven hours to recover a B-double that had careered 30 metres into the bush alongside the Pacific Highway near Maclean. Firefighters from Gulmarrad, Maclean and Grafton were involved in the recovery and clean up of 500 litres of diesel that spilt from the truck’s tanks. Thankfully the driver suffered only minor injuries.

Bravery Award for Yamba’s Erik Fink 💪

Local hero and Yamba taxi driver Erik Fink will be awarded an Australian Bravery Decoration after his incredible efforts to save a teenage boy in a rip during huge surf in 2019. Governor-General Sam Mostyn announced 46 recipients on Tuesday, including our boy Erik. Tip your taxi drivers!
