Jacaranda Festival Begins

The Jaca festivities begin this weekend and will run over the coming weeks with plenty of events, celebrations and more in and around Grafton. You can find the complete festival guide and events at the Jacaranda Festival website — or below in our weekly events.

Brooms Head Tragedy

A local man in his 50s has died near Brooms Head after being found unresponsive in the water despite the efforts of bystanders and emergency services.

Resealing Works 🚧

Clarence Valley Council have engaged Spray Seal NSW to perform resealing works in Grafton. These works will be carried out in the coming weeks.

What’s Happening 📅

Friday

💡 Illuminate Opening: See the opening of the illuminated Jacaranda trees with live entertainment, food trucks and bar at See Park in Grafton from 6:30pm.

👨‍🚒 Magic Men: A ladies night out this Friday at Maclean Bowling Club from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. This is an 18+ show, tickets are available here.

Saturday

🥳 Childrens Party: A free Jacaranda event for the kids this Saturday at See Park, Grafton. Fancy dress, games, prizes and food available. Starting at 10am.

💃 Jacaranda Ball: The Jaca Ball and Garden Party is on this Saturday at the Grafton Showground Barn from 6pm. This is a ticketed event with live entertainment, catering and bar. Tickets are available here.

Sunday

🤣 Bush Poetry & Comedy: Make it to the Lawrence Hall this Sunday 20th October from 2pm for a comedy show with 3 Randy Poets. Afternoon tea is available, $20 entry at the door.

  • Grafton Markets - Saturday 19th October, from 9am to 3pm at the Grafton Showgrounds on the corner of Prince and Dobie Streets.

  • Ashby Markets - Sunday 20th October, from 7:30am to 12pm at the Ashby Hall Reserve along Mcauley Street, Ashby.

  • Yamba Farmer’s Market - Wednesday 23rd October, from 7am to 11am at Whiting Beach carpark, Yamba.

Artisan Registrations Open 📅

Clarence Valley creatives and artists are invited to book a stall at three pop-up artisan markets in the Clarence Valley. Registrations close soon.

Art 1 Exhibition 🖼️

New exhibition opening this Friday 18th October at 5:30pm, at the Old Kirk Gallery in Yamba. A collection of impressive original works from Mr Graham Mackie’s students as a result of over 50 years teaching at Dubbo, Fairfield and Maclean High Schools.
