Toad Bustin’ Time

Cane toads are out in force and volunteers and community members are asked to keep their eyes and ears out to capture any cane toads in and around their property. They can be placed in a bucket and frozen to humanely euthanise them before being placed in your weekly green waste bin. How to identify a cane toad.

Argyle Hotel Reopens

The long-awaited reopening of the historic Argyle Hotel in Maclean has come. A new bar, restaurant dining, beer garden and accommodation in the fully renovated building will mark 130 years since the Argyle Hotel first opened in 1894.

Horse Trainer Faces Rape Allegations

A Grafton-based horse trainer and former jockey has had his licence suspended after being slapped with historical rape charges. Following extensive inquiries by police, detectives attended a premises on Turf Street, Grafton, where they arrested a 56-year-old man. He was taken to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with sexual intercourse with person 10 or over and under 16 years, and sexual intercourse with person 14 or over and under 16 years.

BIG4 Waterpark Opens

The new Oasis water park at BIG4 Saltwater in Palmers Island opens this weekend with a grand opening, live music and giveaways to celebrate. While the opening day is already sold out for Saturday, now is a great time for locals to head out and enjoy the new additions before the holidays begin.

Iluka and Yamba Beautification

Keep your eye out for our town and village beautification team in Iluka and Yamba over the next few weeks!

Iluka: Undertaking repair works to Iluka Bay retaining wall and stair access to the beach area next to Iluka Jetty.

Yamba: Complete Landscape of carpark at the Yamba Community Precinct and existing TAFE building.

Council is asking the local community to identify areas that need extra maintenance by lodging a service request.

New Footpath for Yamba

Plans for a new footpath along Gumnut Road, The Halyard, and part of The Mainbrace in Yamba have been shared. This one-million-dollar project is fully funded by the NSW Government’s Get NSW Active Program to improve safety and accessibility for everyone in our community.

🐖 Pig Races: The Good Intent Hotel in South Grafton are holding pig races and an auction on Saturday from 5pm to raise money for the South Grafton Junior Rebels team. Details here.

🍲 Eat The Street: Come down to Maclean Bowling Club for another edition of Maclean’s food festival - Eat The Street! Delicious food, pop up bars, live music, kids activities and free entry. Starting at 3pm.
