New Mayor: Ray Smith

Ray Smith elected as new Clarence Valley Mayor, who was voted Mayor at the first meeting of Council held on 17th October 2024. Smith will serve as Mayor for two years, while Greg Clancy was chosen as Deputy.

Naming of the Yamba Community Precinct

The old Treelands Drive Community Centre is currently undergoing redevelopment to create a modern space for the community. It will include a new library, art gallery space, youth space and meeting rooms to support a range of uses. Council would like your ideas for naming the new space - submissions can be entered here.

๐Ÿ’ต Tank & Dunny Rebates

Rebates are available for rainwater tanks (up to $600) and dual flush toilet installations (up to $75) for Clarence Valley residents. Details are available here.

  • Saturday 26 October โ€“ Parade of Youth, 8:30 am to 9:30 am rolling road closure along Prince Street (Kemp Street up to Bacon Street)

  • Wednesday 30 October โ€“ Carnival Capers, 1 pm to 10 pm โ€“ CBD Skinner Street South Grafton

  • Thursday 31 October โ€“ Jacaranda Thursday, 6 am to 3 pm, - Prince Street and Fitzroy St, across Queen

  • Saturday 2 November โ€“ Vintage Car Show, 7 am to 2 pm, Duke Street (between Fitzroy Street and Victoria Street)

  • Saturday 2 November โ€“ Jacaranda Criterium, 12 pm to 3 pm, Prince Street (Bacon Street to Dobie Street)

๐Ÿ’œ The Jacaranda Festival is in full swing this weekend with plenty of activities throughout Grafton. Head over to the Jaca Events page for a list of all the upcoming events.

Friday

๐Ÿ”ฅ River Dreaming: The First Nations of the Clarence Valley, the Bundjalung, Yaegl and Gumbaynggirr people, come together to share with visitors and celebrate culture with music, dance and community on Friday 25th October in Market Square, Grafton from 10am.

๐Ÿ’ƒ Culture & Dance Spectacular: On the opening night of the Jacaranda Festival, this celebration of culture and creativity will light up Market Square on Friday, 25 October, starting at 7pm.

Saturday

๐ŸŽ‰ Parade of Youth: From 9am, a parade of youth will proceed down Prince Street to Market Square in Grafton, including schools and community groups from across the Clarence Valley. Come down and celebrate Jaca.

๐ŸŽธ Rick Price: Returning to Australia from the US, Rick Price brings his "Hometownโ€ tour to Sanctus Brewing Co in Townsend this Saturday from 6pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are available online.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Royal Jaca Party Crowning: A magical evening of myth and tradition unique to Grafton's floral festival as we celebrate the Crowning of the 2024 Jacaranda Royal Party in Market Square, Grafton from 7pm.

Sunday

๐Ÿš— Retrofest: Step back in time and immerse yourself in the vibrant era of the Retrofest at Grafton Jacaranda Festival! Market Square, Grafton on Sunday 27 October, starting at 10am, for a day filled with classic cars, bikes, and caravans.

๐ŸŽป An Afternoon At The Pops: The Clarence Valley Orchestra and Chorus, Anthony Ackroyd and The Kransky Sisters team up for an afternoon of orchestra, strangeness, and comedy at the Saraton Theatre, Grafton from 2pm. Tickets are available online or at the door.
